East Price Hill Shooting

An 11-year-old boy was shot at a property in East Price Hill, Cincinnati, on Tuesday night, August 18, 2026, prompting renewed concerns among residents about safety and ongoing problems at the home. Neighbors say they have reported issues involving the property for years and believe more action should have been taken before the shooting occurred.

The incident happened at a house on the 3700 block of Warsaw Avenue. According to WCPO, the property had previously attracted complaints from community members over its condition and activity around the building.

The East Price Hill Improvement Association president, Amber Kassem, said she contacted police about the property earlier on the same day the shooting happened. She reportedly sent an email around 10:30 a.m. asking for an update about continued activity at the location.

Kassem told WCPO that the neighborhood had been concerned about the property for a considerable amount of time. She also argued that the building should have been secured and that the surrounding block needed regular police patrols.

Property Had a History of Complaints

The condition of the Warsaw Avenue property has become a major concern for nearby residents. During a visit on Wednesday, WCPO reporters observed broken windows and other windows covered with boards. People were also seen inside the building.

According to Hamilton County records cited by WCPO, the property had accumulated 23 violations dating back to 2007. Four violations remained open at the time of the report, involving trash, litter and overgrown grass. Records also showed four outstanding service requests related to litter and bulk item collection.

Residents believe the property’s condition has contributed to ongoing safety concerns in East Price Hill. Kassem criticized the ownership situation, saying an out-of-state company had failed to properly maintain the building and address neighborhood complaints.

Cincinnati Officials Respond

The City of Cincinnati identified the property owner as Second Avenue, a national company that owns more than 100 single-family rental properties in the city.

A city spokesperson told WCPO that Cincinnati filed a lawsuit against Second Avenue in August 2025 over substandard living conditions at properties owned by the company, including the Warsaw Avenue address.

The city also said it received a complaint about the property’s condition on Friday. Officials contacted the company, which reportedly believed the building was vacant and indicated it would secure the property.

However, the city said it did not appear that the owner had made an attempt to secure the building.

Officials stated that they were taking additional steps to ensure the company fulfilled its responsibilities as a property owner while continuing the legal case.

Investigation and Community Concerns

WCPO reported that it attempted to contact Second Avenue but had not received a response at the time of publication.

The shooting has intensified discussions about neighborhood safety, property maintenance and how complaints involving potentially dangerous buildings are handled.

The available report does not provide further details about the circumstances of the shooting or the boy’s condition. Police investigation updates and any additional information about the incident remain important for residents following the case.

For East Price Hill residents, the incident has renewed calls for stronger enforcement of property standards and greater attention to locations that have generated repeated complaints.
